What Is Everyday Life Like at Sentosa Cove for Cape Royale Residents?

Life at Cape Royale Turns Towards the Water

Everyday life at Cape Royale is shaped by water on both sides: the open strait in front of the towers and the marina basin of Sentosa Cove behind them. ONE°15 Marina and the restaurants of Quayside Isle are a short walk away, while the beaches and fairways of Sentosa and the city across the Sentosa Gateway are reached by car.

Sentosa Cove is the island’s eastern residential quarter, laid out around a marina, with houses on canals and small islands, low-rise condominiums and its own places to eat. Cape Royale sits on its seaward rim, so the cove lies behind the towers and the sea in front of them.

The towers themselves are part of that picture: at 16 to 19 storeys, the developer’s brochure counts them among the tallest condominiums in the cove.

The Marina and Quayside Isle Near Cape Royale

The nearest neighbour is ONE°15 Marina, half a kilometre or so from the towers on OneMap, which the developer’s brochure reckons at seven minutes on foot. Quayside Isle, a row of waterside restaurants and shops on Ocean Way, is roughly 600 metres off, or thirteen minutes’ walk, and residents can also take the buggy the brochure describes.

Day-to-day groceries are at Sentosa Arrival Plaza, around ten minutes’ walk by the brochure’s reckoning. The guide to Cove Way and the sea frontage describes the stretch of shore between the towers and the marina.

Living beside a marina also changes the view from home. The developer’s photographs taken from the towers show the yachts and pontoons of ONE°15 Marina below, the breakwater and the sea beyond, and the city skyline in the distance.

Sentosa Golf Club, with its Tanjong and Serapong courses, is the nearest large landscape after the sea, and its clubhouse is a six-minute drive according to the brochure. Every home has a golf locker at the lobby. Tanjong Beach is about the same distance as the clubhouse, and the attractions at the western end of the island are a short drive further. The golf living guide for Cape Royale looks at the courses in more detail.

Schools and the Mainland for Cape Royale Families

Sentosa is a resort island, so school runs from Cape Royale cross the Sentosa Gateway. The closest international school is ISS International School at Preston Road, roughly 5.8 kilometres off on OneMap; among local primary schools, CHIJ (Kellock) lies around 3.9 kilometres away and Radin Mas Primary about 4.1. For Primary One registration, the Ministry of Education determines home-school distance, not a straight-line measurement.

Across the water, HarbourFront and Keppel Bay are the nearest part of the mainland, with Mount Faber, the start of the Southern Ridges, about 4.0 kilometres from the site and Labrador Nature Reserve about 5.0 kilometres. The developer’s brochure describes the Greater Southern Waterfront, some 2,000 hectares of coast running from Marina East to Pasir Panjang, as an area to be redeveloped once the port terminals have moved to Tuas. The Southern Waterfront guide for Cape Royale covers that coast.

A second ring of schools sits 6.8 to 9.8 kilometres away: the Paterson Road campus of ISS near Orchard, Chatsworth International School at Emerald Hill and Avondale Grammar School on Tanglin Road at about 6.8 kilometres, Invictus International School at Loewen Road at about 7.3, Tanglin Trust School at about 8.1, and on Dover Road, UWCSEA and Dover Court International School at about 9.7 and 9.8. The international schools guide lists them in full.

A Typical Week at Cape Royale

Put together, the pattern is easy to picture: a swim in the Ocean Pool before work, the drive over the Gateway to the city, dinner at Quayside Isle by buggy or on foot, and a weekend split between the fairways, the beach and the marina. Indoors, the gym and function room on the Cape Royale amenities list cover the rest.

For shopping beyond the cove, VivoCity is about 3.2 kilometres from the site across the Sentosa Gateway, and the Sentosa Boardwalk links it with the island on foot. Henderson Waves, the best-known bridge on the Southern Ridges, is about 4.7 kilometres away for a weekend walk.
